Yee Records 100th Career Point in Shutout Victory Over Middletown
September 12, 2007...
Senior All-State
forward Courtney Yee recorded her
100th career point as she assisted on the game winning goal in Tuscarora's 1-0 shutout victory over the Middletown Knights on Wednesday
afternoon.
Both teams entered the game following a grueling weekend in the THS
Tournament of Champions this past weekend. This annual clash was
in essence a continuation of that event as the match pitted two
Frederick County sides who annually compete for state titles in their
respective classes.
In the 15th minute, Junior midfielder
Danielle Roos sent a restart toward the top of the box which Yee
flicked on. Senior forward
Natalie Salvoch jumped on the ball and immediately pushed it by the
on rushing Knights keeper to stake the Titans to a 1-0 lead. The
goal was Salovich's 17th career tally.
The
Knights responded and provided strong pressure on the Titans defense at
the end of the 1st half. Junior goalkeeper
Sarah Maffei took control of her
box and thwarted all Middletown efforts at evening the score.
Maffei recorded 4 saves on the night in her securing her first career
shutout.
In the second half, the Titans settled into a rhythm and took control of
the game but failed to convert several chances to put the game away.
Courtney Yee's first half assist
marked her 100th career point (42 goals and 18 assists) and is the
Titans career leading scorer.
The Titans outshot the Knights 10-6 on the evening.
The Titans return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Century
Knights. The game will mark the 4th consecutive game against a
team that has won a Maryland State Championship since Tuscarora opened
in 2003. |
