Roos Records Goal and Assist in 3-0 Victory over Century
September 20, 2007...
Junior midfielder
Danielle Roos recorded a goal and
an assist in leading the Titans to a 3-0 victory over the previously
unbeaten Century Knights. The Titans improved to 3-1 on the season
with Tuesday's victory.
The Titans opened the game strong with sophomore
Michelle Rock getting in alone
with the Century goalkeeper just 25 seconds into the game but was
stopped by a great save. The Titans continued to pressure and in
the 12th minute, senior Courtney Yee
tracked down a punt from junior goalkeeper
Sarah Maffei and finished the
breakaway for the 1-0 lead. The Titans increased the lead eight
minutes later when Roos served a restart into the box which junior
Melissa Sweeney headed into the
far corner of the goal.
The Titans iced the game four minutes into the second half when Roos
scored on a direct kick from midfield. The Titans continued to
pressure the Knights with sophomore Rock and
Karleigh Marceron making
countless dynamic runs at the Century goal.
Maffei and freshmen Annie Wickett
combined for the shutout. The Titans defensive effort was buoyed
by the return of junior Selena Mason
and sophomore Brittany Clemons
from injury.
The Titans open MVAL Chesapeake Conference play on Friday at home
against Linganore.
