Titans Open Pre-Season at Titans Play Day

The Titans opened their
pre-season on Friday with friendlies against Mount Hebron and Walter
Johnson High Schools at the annual

In the opener against Mount Hebron, the Titans got started quickly.
In the 2nd minute, sophomore midfielder
Emily Marshall split two
defenders with a ball that put sophomore forward
Aaran Parry in behind the Viking
defense. Parry proceeded to beat the Viking goalkeeper for the
lone goal in the 1-0 victory. The Titans controlled the flow of play
throughout, but failed to find the back of the net in what became a
sluggish match in the hot afternoon
sun. Junior goalkeeper
Elizabeth Ulan recorded the shutout with one save.
The Titans faced Walter Johnson High School in the evening contest.
In the 12th minute, junior forward
Katie King made a
dashing run with the ball from the flank and found
the back of the net with a rocket from fifteen yards into the upper left
side netting. The Titans held the lead until the final minute of
the half when a poor clearance in the back led to Walter Johnson evening
the score. The Titans came out flying in the second half creating
numerous chances. They finally got it right when junior midfielder
Allison Shankle found Parry
who beat the final defender before scoring the game winner in the 2-1
victory.
The JV Titans split their matches falling to Mount Hebron 1-0 and
defeating Walter Johnson 2-0. Sophomore Paighton Guglielmini
scored both goals in the victory. Strong performance were turned
in by freshmen Kenna Gubler and Brianna Miller.
The Titans move on with pre-season preparations with a friendly against
nationally ranked (#17) Good Counsel on August 26.
